Writing Topic #12
So What Did You Today???

Michael starts us off, as usual ...

What did you do today? When I'm writing to the Webheads list I often try and picture where people are, what they're doing, what they're wearing, etc. Tell us what you've done so far and what you are going to do for the rest of the day.

I'll begin.

===========================================

Today I got up at 7.30 (a little later than usual because I was very late to bed last night) and went to work as usual. I got to work about 8.30 and had a meeting with an old friend and colleague about my work plans for the rest of this year.

We had a special morning tea about 10.30 because someone was leaving our unit, and someone else was coming back to work after having 6 months off to have a baby.

For the rest of the morning I worked at my computer answering emails and making sure all the teachers on my two online training courses were happy!

I ate lunch sitting at the computer (I often do that) and then went for a lovely walk by the water. The campus where I work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays is right on a river.

On my way home from work I went to the post office to pay my telephone bill and then I went to the gym to do some exercises and have a swim. This is a new activity for me and I really enjoyed it because a lot of the people there were older (and fatter!) than me! I then picked up my son from cricket practice and went to my parents' house for dinner.

I then went to a shopping centre with my son because he needed new clothes for the new football season. When I got home about 9.00 pm I watched a football game on TV for a while, talked with my wife (she had been out to see a play with a friend of hers) and now I'm on the Internet writing to you!

I'll spend about another 30 minutes or so on the Net and then go to bed about midnight.

Often we get mail dated "before" previous mail due to world time zones

Well, today is Saturday and Michael picked a day I don't go to work, but here goes...

Normally I have to start class at 7.30 in the morning so on the weekend I enjoy getting up when I feel like it. Or I just don't feel like lying in bed anymore. Then I do my Reiki in bed.

Today I got up shortly before 10am, got some coffee and went online. Talked to people in New Zealand, Holland, Canada and Switzerland while I read and answered my emails.

Then I put on a load of laundry and cleaned the kitchen....watered the plants sorted through paperwork for my classes and taxes. Cleared my desk, changed the bed and vacuumed the floor...still have to mop it. Finished reading the paper from yesterday to take a break.

Managed to get two pages of my tax return done, watch some silly program with my son (who got up at 1pm) go outside and have a cigarette and dream and listen to the birds complain that the sky is grey again and where is spring?

I still plan to cook something nice for supper, hang some lights and pictures, finish this stupid tax return, watch a film with my son, talk to some friends this evening online, mop the floors, hang up the laundry, sort through more piles of papers...you know I am getting tired thinking about this...:-)

Maybe I should tell you what my Monday is like...let me look...

First class is a meeting in the department of marketing for cosmetics, nutrition and pharma.... they are practicing meetings in English for real. The boss will be back after a knee operation. Then I have some time to do photocopies, paperwork and shoot the breeze with some colleagues. Off to my drivers who are a real laugh. They need English to talk with the visitors they pick up at the airport and the guests of their bosses.

Next come my trainees who are being prepared for the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry test. I hate teaching to a test so we do fun things in between and then work hard for awhile and then take a break. This week we are doing lists and articles.

Then at 4.30pm I have my after work class. These people come from all over the company...legal department, pigments, sales, marketing, e-commerce, information services, pharma, liquid crystals, production and so on.

Sometimes I think I learn more than they do...:-)

I usually stop to shop on the way home and once I get home listen to my son tell me about his day while I dump my bags and get something to drink and start some food cooking...he follows me around like a dog...LOL

I rev up the computer to get my mail and see who is online while dinner is cooking.

Monday night the X-Files are on so we usually eat in front of the TV...what a bad mother I am!!!

My son and I talk some more, I usually get the next days classes ready and pack my bags while I talk to friends and students on icq.

I almost never get to bed before midnight and then my day starts again at 6am. So you see why I sleep on the weekend. It is a good thing I don't have a husband because I am not sure where I could fit him in....*smiling* - Unless he was a houseman...now that would be nice!!!!!

PS Sorry I wrote so much!!

Hi Maggi,

You start your day at 6 a.m.! You are really an earlybird. I hope to be able to get up like you.

X-files is my favorite TV drama. It is more than a TV program to me. I always set this program on English rather than on Korean dubbing. I do not understand everything and I am able to follow just one third of the program at times. However, it is one way to improve my English and it's good to listen to actors' real voices.

Meet Ming here

Sunday, being a student, has no special meaning at all (err, at least for me).

Outside it is a bright day. The weather is always sunny lately; which means the real spring time is coming! But, as usual, I lack the desire to go out to enjoy the pleasant season, the gift given by nature. I do not know why, I just wanna be lazy.

I keep sitting in front of the desk, reading mails and studying until my eyes get sore or I am sick of it, and I need to take a rest and let my energy return again. Some people might think living in this way is monotonous and dull, but I like it, at least at the present moment; I might keep this lifestyle until I am bored of it. I often change my living style as time flows. Some of my long-term friends cannot imagine that I can stay at home all day. They don't think I can endure such kind of living; and enjoy it.

Well, did my writing fit the theme assigned? I guess not, but I would not fix it. Writing is emotional, and, my mind asks meto write in this way. Later, in the night, I might flick the channels for the TV series I like and watch it. It's a day.

P.S Something keeps popping up in my mind, the song "One fine day", the blues jazz version, so relaxing, and kind of groovy.

Hi everyone,

About the new topic, it's cool, don't you think? And it can make you think more about what 's going on with everyday life and then you can know how worthy you are.

For me, I 'm working at my father's company so it's really close to my house. I just walk only 5 minutes from home to work. My company starts work at 8.00 AM.. I always wake up at 7.00 or 7.15 AM to prepare myself and then, after reaching my workplace I always go online to check mail. And, I just plan for the work today.

Then, at 11.00 a.m it's time to think what would be good to eat today. And then, we order from the cafe near the company.

I work until 5.30 PM. which is the end of our company's working period and I go to the gym to do aerobics and play some sports like squash and badminton (my favourites). Then, I go home and talk to some friends. That's would be a pretty cool day :)

Love to everyone that reads this,

chotima

P.S. it's similar to mail na ka.. if you guys have any comment on grammar just let me know ...I really appreciate it..

Chotima, and others, I always correct the grammar before I post your writing on the web, so you can compare what you sent in with what you see here and, if you are paying attention, you can find your grammar mistakes. - Vance

Dear All

Today, I woke up at 6:30 a.m. but then I went back to sleep again and woke up at 7.15 a.m. because my phone rang. If that phone had not rung, maybe I would still be asleep.

Then I went to the bathroom, and then went to my car. I had to turn on the car and wait for 15 minutes and after that I went to the university to study the Chinese language. My class started at 9.30 a.m. and finished at 12.00 a.m. . After I finished my class, I went to the canteen and ate Taiwanese food. I usually eat pientang (food put in a small box). The price in the canteen is cheaper than outside the university. I paid for one pientang and one drink about 2 dollars US.

After eating, I went to the computer room and checked my email. I usually stay in the computer room 3 hours. I go home usually at 3 p.m. But today, I could just stay 1 hour because I had to work. So I went home. I ate again, studied, and then took a nap until 5 p.m., and then I went to work. I usually return home at 10 p.m. or 12 p.m. These are my activities every day.

Of course, time for a new topic.

I got up at 7:30 this morning and then had breakfast. I took a bus to work at 8 and arrived at my office at about 8:20. I began work at 8:30. Because I just changed my job I must accept a pre-work training for one week. And today is my second training day. After the training, I had some instant food at about 12:00.

I then took a walk to the computer markets where I met a former colleague. We talked for a while and I got back to work at 1:00 PM. I finished my workday at 5:30 PM and walked back to home at 6:00 PM. After dinner and watching the TV news, I am sitting here and answering my emails. I'll sit here and read some books and then go to bed at about 11:30 PM.

This was my day.

Regards,

Moral
