Susanne likes to Experiment

Susanne's Sonexis Class

BJ and I have now been experimenting a tiny bit with this Sonexis conferencing tool, and still I have no trouble using it from my Mac. As a student, it should be possible (from a newer Mac that mine, at least), but not from the instructor level. Maybe the memory and platform limits are caused by something concerning the voice tool? I see no voice talk feature yet, and that was the reason why I began to experiment.

It was easy to add new students to my class, and make a text description of the dream classroom. BJ just found her way in, and we had a chat. I do like some of the features: there is one field for questions, one for students chat, and one for the instructor. Might be a good distinction, but I have to test it to see what it takes. As far as I can see, the text fields are far too small, and I did not find out how to make any opening or transfer of saved chatlog yet. But my Chinese butterfly.gif was uploaded easiliy and shows in the whiteboard (I set it to not be modified by others yet :-)

In case we make it work, I got a PIN code for you as a student. For Vance, it is 1677893

More later on this. Anyway, I try to set up a class for next Sunday at 12.30 GMT, or 30 minutes after Webhead startup hours. As BJ says, we must be well prepared to meet new challenges in the upcoming Tapped In interface!

Yours,

Susanne

That day happened to be Global Learn Day, which Webheads were participating in: October 7, 2001 - wfw011007.htm - and Susanne was unable to reach us on that day in any case, but she sent us an email, and followed it up with the one below:

First, I wish to express how sad I feel in this actual wartime, the madness of Taliban has to be stopped but will this be the way to do so? We may fear that the situation will become a more permanent siege where those really responsible will go on working from the hidden mountains.

Back to our common viewpoint, the webheads all experimental class:

This Sunday was not very efficient, seen from the point of view of the Danish Webhead (me). For some unknown reason, I have trouble getting online to Tapped In so I tried another solution, the http://lvbeta.teamwave.com BJ met me there and tried to keep me update - but it really was too bad as I lost the log each time the site disappears just because I was trying something else sinultaneously. Better not have too many wheels turning at once, as my (computer) memory is low. In the Webhead transcript mailed to me by Vance I see that some of you were actually busy at the Global learning day. (I enjoyed that discussion about respect and discipline in schools and wish our new member Ebony welcome in this surprise group.)

I really would have loved to reach that interesting online conference at Global learning Day and the websites do look great. I was in touch with their chatboard to get some help, too. Once more, I was stopped by tech troubles. I tried in vain to install the Windows media Player on my mac , should be posssible - but the install procedure did not execute, just made my computer go down SO many times I had to abandon.

Well, even if I did not get what I wanted, I feel that every technical challenge is a hurdle I must see to overcome or to leave alone. The inspiration to invite for and willingness to support CHAOS NAVIGATION is an extra plus for the Webhead community that I really appreciate.

Hopefully our globalized civilization will overcome the actual trouble and not put so heavy surveillance restrictions on this kind of informal communication between people all around the net.

Yours
Susanne
