My heart is to work with learners in interactive learning environments. I am the Founder and President of Gaming and Learning in Second Life. I consult with educational entities regarding learning and technology. I am currently working on my graduate degree in Instructional Technology at the University of Texas at San Antonio (ant. '08). Gaming and learning is a passionate interest of mine. I regularly present my educational technology findings at large conventions such as SLBPE, SLCC, TCEA and CAMT. I want to be a part in shaping the future of education and how America addresses it's educational needs going into this digital, global environment. I will be talking about Gaming and Learning in SL as an organization. Participants will learn about what GaLiSL is, what we do, and also get a chance to play a game that Jeremy Braver (Jeremy Koester-RL) designed. The game is called 'Windbag'. It's a whimsical game of social bluffing where everyone has a good laugh and learns at the same time. Time just flew by, and we just felt like taking the next plane to Adelaide. Thanks, Mike for such a cultural trip to your country. For the ones who couldn't be there, here's the podcast: http://peopleandplaces.bloxi.jp/ Our main goal with these chatcasts is to raise cultural awareness, learn more about our friends and their countries, and make the resources available for classroom use in any creative way you can think of. There were some minor audio problems due to skype, but for most of our chatcast we had clear audio. Wait for more! Next month we pack and go to Japan! Enjoy the trip. -- Carla and Cris http://peopleandplaces.bloxi.jp/ Tag: placeswithpeople

Today Minhaj joined and we tried to visit Elluminate to help someone (Nelba?) to use the space for an upcoming presentation but there appeared to be too many issues for too many people (in my case, frequent timeouts from my office) so the test was not a flawless one.

092706 - Saturday, September 27, 2008, I was invited to assist at a distance along with Nellie Deutsch and Doris Molero in a presentation given by Buthaina Alothman at the Women without Frontiers International Conference 2008, held physically in Rhodes, Greece, on September 26-28. The presentation focused on ways we can promote peace and reduce discrimination against gender, origin, religion, and color in our societies through Cross-Cultural online projects in the Language Classrooms. Buth created a Wikispace with the abstract of the presentation, Guest Speakers bios, and slides of her previous presentation at the International Conference of WwF.org in 2004, and photo at: http://buthaina-wwf-peaceconf08.wikispaces.com. Webheads continues to meet regularly each Sunday noon GMT into 2009. However Vance is thinking how this can be turned more into a Web 2.0 record. Meanwhile also, here's an event I recorded for 2009.

Buthaina Alothman scheduled workshops 7:20-7:25 GMT on Feb 25, 2009 in Elluminate http://tinyurl.com/3eh. Buth has invited several guest speakers during her 2 workshops designed for 70 EFL teachers working in the Foundation Program of Qatar University, abstract and proposal at: http://quniv-workshop0902.wikispaces.com/Abstract+%26+Proposal

The first hour of each workshop will be a power point presentation during which each guest speaker talks for five (5) minutes. The plan of Day 1 is at: http://quniv-workshop0902.wikispaces.com/MVPresentation_Plan and the plan of Day 2 at: http://quniv-workshop0902.wikispaces.com/MVPresentation_Plan2

Since the same workshop of Day 1 will be repeated on Day 2, the following is my visualization of how the two events can be organized:

Our most recent chat is the one above ^
These chats are being posted online at http://akayoglu_s.web.ibu.edu.tr/webheads.htm
