Hi to all who participate in this group, I am Paolo from Italy. As you see, I speak English only a bit, but I hope to be quite clear so you can understand me.
Allow me to present myself : Im 37 years old and married with two daughters, Arianna 7 years old, and Elisa 4 years old. My actual job is employee in an International Transport company, but Im studying to program computers and Ive just made some software. I usually surf (in Internet) at home and from my office sometimes.
I usually read magazines about Internet and in this way I learned about EFI. So I tried to send email asking information about EFI. Vance, one of the leaders of this group, answered me at once, so I decided to join, but maybe I don't speak English well enough to participate.
I hope to receive from you suggestions about the way to learn spoken English and if your group could be one way to do it.
Waiting for your answers, many thanks
Paolo, May 16, 2000

Here is Aline from Brazil (Remember me on Sunday???)
Welcome to this group! People here are really great, and you will see that you can always count with these folks.
You don't need to be afraid of "speaking English well enough". We are in the same boat, all together, and our objective is to reach a way of learning English with fun, ok?
On 01 Jul 2000, Vance was in Barcelona presenting Webheads the next day, and Paolo wrote us the following:
I'm sorry I have been missing you for a long time, but I doubt whether I can be able to understand and to partecipate in this group because my English isn't so good and it's very difficult for me to speak in the voice chat.
About the bad things that have happened, are happening, and will happen all around the world, I think human beings have always been the same from many, many years ago, but the problem is there are 6,000,000,000 of us and maybe we will increase to10,000,000,000 5-10 years from now. How can the globe have space enough to guarantiee a good living for all people together all the other being and when all the other being will be lost, how can human beings live?!!! I think men are going like many little mice into too tight a cage !!! These bad things are only a consequence of a globe without space any more !!!
One last thing : I don't know if I will participate in the next important voice chat. Maybe I will just listen !!!
Bye bye
Paolo

Hi, Paolo
My name is Sorsah. I'm new here. I just want to tell you that learning a second language is very hard but if you'll be patient with it, one day you'll succeed. Because English is my second language too, I know how you feel about it. Like the first message I posted here, I didn't even know a word in English the first time I came to the US. My English is a little better now but I still have a lot of trouble in my school. I hope you understand what I mean. Just do as best as you can Paolo.
well, take care

Hi, I have the same feeling as you two have. But anyway, it's very good to study another language. I guess I will try to study other languages. It's very fun. Especially, when I talk with friends who speak English I feel excited. And I also think that we could make friends with different people if we knew many different languages. That's what languages are for. Well, let's enjoy it and get better at it.
regards,
Maggie
