Introduction to my hometown - the city of Taipei
Today I would like to introduce to all of you my hometown - Taipei. The City is not only the biggest but also the capital of my country - Taiwan. Taipei city is situated in the north of Taiwan and it is surrounded by mountains. During summer time, the average temperature is about 28~32 degrees celsius, and there are thunderstorms in the afternoon usually. Therefore, it's really hot and humid in the summer. In addition, summer is the typhoon season as well.
The city covers an area of 271.77 square kilometers and the population has reached about 2.64 million. As you can see, Taiepi is a very crowded city. Fortunately, we have built a rapid public transit system; thus, traffic jams and air pollution are no longer big problems.
The best part of living in Taipei is that there is a great variety of arts, cultural activities, and scenic attraction areas nearby. The National Palace Museum, for example, houses hundreds of thousands of Chinese antiques and art works. I believe its collections of Chinese antiques and art works are the most abundant in the whole world. The museum is located in the north of the city and is a must-see for lovers of ancient Chinese culture. Why does the National Palace Museum have more Chinese art collections than those of Mainland China? It's a long story. Let's talk about it some other time.
