Concept: Putting text on your web page

Explanation:

• Everything else besides the title all goes in the BODY area.
• Although in this context they are optional, text should be contained within <P>aragraph tags, as shown.
• When a browser finds the elements it expects in a file, it can interpret the file and display the contents on your screen.
• The browser knows to read down to BODY and display everything it sees after that (according to instructions) until it reaches the /BODY tag.
• If you fail to close tags your page might display ok anyway in your browser, or it might not, or it might display ok now but not ok in later versions or different kinds of browsers.

What's coming: Now let's look at a few formatting commands, such as line break, center, bold, and italics.
