Felix: What kind of licor did you have?
MichaelC: A pub is an Australian bar Ying.
Ying-Lan: ^With your beautiful wife?
MichaelC: Champagen.
MichaelC: spelling - champagne! Yes with my beatiful wife!
Felix: Sweet licors are dangerous.. They get to you quickly
Ying-Lan: Tha't good.
MichaelC: It was good. We had a very nice night.

MichaelC: Do you some times get drubk at home Felix?
Felix: yep... With liqueurs or a good margarita
MichaelC: NO Ying - no special celebration.
Ying-Lan: ^Just for fun?
MichaelC: Ah - margueritas! Wonderful drinks.
MichaelC: Yep. Just for fun!
Felix: I like margueritas.... Specially the salt on the rim..
MichaelC: Exactly Felix!
Ying-Lan: I don't like drinking wine or something like that...
Felix: I like wine.
MichaelC: Do you drink any alcohol Ying?
Ying-Lan: ^No, I don't.
MichaelC: I think 90% of Asian women never drink alcohol.
Ying-Lan: ^I feel uncomfortable when I drink it.
Felix: What a really like is a good whiskey.
Ying-Lan: ^My face is very easy to turn into red... and hot.
MichaelC: You have to get used to it!
Ying-Lan: I hate it.
MichaelC: I don't like whisky much. Sweet whisky (bourbon) is nice though.
MichaelC: Have you met Maggi's colleague yet Ying?
Ying-Lan: ^Not yet.
MichaelC: Is she still in Taiwan?
Felix: Has she contact you Ying?
Ying-Lan: ^Only read her email one time.
Felix: Has she contacted you ?
Ying-Lan: ^She must be busy,,,
MichaelC: Oh well. Maybe she's busy...
Ying-Lan: ^I think so...
Ying-Lan: ^Maybe she lives in another city in Taiwan...
MichaelC: And we have had no mail from Vance. He must be far away from computers.
Ying-Lan: ^I think so...
MichaelC: Any lick with your school Felix?
MichaelC: Any lick?
MichaelC: I mean LUCK!
Ying-Lan: ^Michaelc,,, I have read the story of East Timor in Reader's Digest...
Felix: lol
Ying-Lan: ^It is very complicated problem.
Felix: I am still thinking about it. I am remodeling my other house... And then I'll decided if I will open my school or rent the place.
Ying-Lan: ^Rent.. it is cheap one.
MichaelC: Australian soldiers go there tomorrow. Very complciated and a bit scary for us here in Australia.
Felix: Brazil sent some officers too
Ying-Lan: ^Do you think that you have to involve into it?
MichaelC: I didn't know you had 2 houses!!! A rich landlord!
MichaelC: Back to Timor.....
Ying-Lan: Felix,, really.
Felix: LOL No way Michael.. The house I live in I still pay the mortgage.. The other one is a 3 story building.. My father gave me a floor.
Ying-Lan: Back... you mean the East Timor was a part of Australia long time ago.
MichaelC: ...someone had to get involved Ying. Australia is the closest country....what do you think? (I see Felix!)
MichaelC: Indonesia is very angry with us.
Ying-Lan: I understood it... what do you think about it?
MichaelC: But I think they are trying to kill the East Timorese......and the East Timorese people voted for independence...and then....
MichaelC: ...the Indonesian army just helps them all get killed.
MichaelC: Do we stand by and watch more genocide?
Ying-Lan: ^I don't know how to say it.
Ying-Lan: ^FATE?
MichaelC: ...
MichaelC: What do you mean Ying?
Ying-Lan: ^Indonesia is a very wonderful country, but their people never enjoy their life like us.
MichaelC: us? who is us? You in Taiwan? Everyone who is not Indonesian?
Ying-Lan: Dirty Governemnt, angry people....
Ying-Lan: We are lucky ..
MichaelC: I went to Indonesia 25 years ago when i was vwery young. It was the first time in my life that i saw real poverty.....
Ying-Lan: I just think what's wrong with them.. I mean some countries like Indonesia.
MichaelC: ...I couldn't believe it and I have never forgotten it. I couldn't belive that so close to Australia was a completely different world.
MichaelC: I don't care about the government much. I would like to know what the Indonesian *people* think about this current problem.
Ying-Lan: ^But Indoneisa has a lot of resource.. water, mineral, plants growing fast...
MichaelC: Felix - any opinion on this"?
Ying-Lan: Felix , are you still here? or talking someone on ICQ?
Felix: I havent watched the news lately.. So I dont know anything about Timor.
MichaelC: Fair enough Felix. it's a sad story.
Ying-Lan: Actually,,, I did not understand what was Timor when I read your topic fisrt.
MichaelC: You have a differernt name for it?
Ying-Lan: Actually,,, I did not understand what Timor was when I read your topic first.
Ying-Lan: ^I remember it in Chinese.
MichaelC: I see.
Ying-Lan: ^Then I used the Yahoo Research to find the news.
MichaelC: You're a good student as ever Ying!
MichaelC: Back to your plans Felix.....
MichaelC: ..do you think it might be better and chaeper to use the palace for your teaching?
Ying-Lan: ^I read some opions in news here. The editor compared The independent of East Timore with Taiwan ..
Felix: I got a proposition this week.. I am thinking about it.
MichaelC: A proposition ffrom the Palace?
Felix: nope.... a job here
Ying-Lan: So. Felix, Did you give up the plan of School?
MichaelC: I see. What's stopping you from taking the job?
Felix: The money.. We haven't talked about it yet.. :))
MichaelC: Very important!
Felix: A lot
Felix: ..
MichaelC: brb...gone to get coffee.....
Ying-Lan: Felix, you could speak good English, Do you think it will help you to get a good job in Brazil?
Felix: But I dont have any academy background Ying, that's the problem.
Ying-Lan: Like MBA?
Felix: yes
Ying-Lan: ^Academay... that's why people want to go to University in the world.
MichaelC: back....
Felix: yes, and I am thinking about going to one, the problem is that quite of far from here
Ying-Lan: ^We always said A good student may not do good work.
Felix: the problem is that it's quite far from here (the college)
Ying-Lan: Practice is different from the theory.
MichaelC: You could do it via distance education Felix...
Felix: Good student = bookworms - nerds. hehehe
Ying-Lan: ^I was thinking about the long distance.
Felix: I dont think so Michael..
MichaelC: Why not?
Ying-Lan: ^But the distance Education can not replace studying in university.
Felix: I need a universtiy degree...
Ying-Lan: ^It will learn more in the real world than chatting some guy on line.
MichaelC: true Ying. But if the university is too far away it is an option to do it that way.
MichaelC: Many people are doing it now.
Ying-Lan: ^I knew it... That's why I love internet.
Felix: Michael can I get a college's degree using Distant Learning ?
Ying-Lan: ^If I could choice it... I prefer to study in school.
MichaelC: Sure you can Felix. Many US colleges/universities are offering online degrees.
MichaelC: (and Australian and probably English/European...)
Ying-Lan: ^You have to live there to know it
Felix: Really??????????????????
MichaelC: Yes of course!
Felix: Can I study from Brazil in an USA University???
Ying-Lan: ^Yes... Felix .
MichaelC: I think so...
MichaelC: If you join this listserv called DEOS.....
Felix: Where is it?
MichaelC: .....just ask your question - what course you want to do - and I bet you'll get several repliess.
Ying-Lan: ^UCLA..
Felix: where can I find the DEOS listserv?
MichaelC: DEOS = distance education onlines something...let me look...hang on...
Felix: ok
Ying-Lan: But,,, you need to pay it.
MichaelC: DEOS = Distance Education Online Symposium
Looking for URL.....
Felix: to pay for what Ying?
Ying-Lan: It is not free to study on line.
Zoli: @64,64 !It's Zoli
Zoli: Hi guys!
Ying-Lan: ^Hi... Choi
Ying-Lan: no.
Ying-Lan: Are you Kay?
Felix: oh.. That's bad.. But... I think it's my only change now.. Michael / Ying do you know anyone who is doing that?
Felix: Hi Choi
Zoli: Wow, hello Felix. You're wearing a cool avatar.
Felix: Thanks
MichaelC: Go to
http://www.cde.psu.edu/ACSDE/DEOS.html and subscribe to DEOS-LMichaelC: Hi Zoli.
Zoli: Okay, I'm visiting that page.
MichaelC: It is a very active and interestin listserv.
Felix: Michael, but that really gives me the same degree and in a person-to person college?
MichaelC: Yes Felix it does.
MichaelC: It's a lot of work of course but you can do it.
Felix: Generally how long does it take to finish it? The Average..
Zoli: I'm on a lot of mailing lists. I hope this one is not that active, otherwise my mailbox will be full.
MichaelC: I'm not sure - but in Australia the average degree is 3 years. But online? that is an interestin question.
Zoli: What are you talking about Michael and Felix?
Ying-Lan: Distance Education...
MichaelC: Zoli - I was talking about the DEOS listserv for distance educators.
Ying-Lan: ^Felix wants to sudy on line.
MichaelC: And Felix is interested in doing a degree online.
Ying-Lan: Me, too.
Zoli: Sounds great! What kind of degree?
Ying-Lan: ^I am interested in the certificate of Banking Tech.
MichaelC: Well i get the impression you can get almost any degree online these days.
Felix: I will see what are the choices first.. Then I will decide the course
Felix: It will depend on the prices too
Ying-Lan: ^It is hard to do..
MichaelC: just put your question to the DEOS list and see what replies you get.
Zoli: That's great, but I think a person-to-person course is better, as Felix said too.
Ying-Lan: Falix and I have to work to make money...
MichaelC: We all agree on that Zoli. But Felxi lives far away from universities.
Ying-Lan: ^I can not quit to study..
Felix: that's it Ying..
Zoli: Oh, I see.
MichaelC: That is a problem.
Ying-Lan: ^I wish I were a student again.
MichaelC: It does take a big time commitment.
Ying-Lan: ONly Dreaming...
Zoli: I heard that in Australia a lot of students learn at home.
MichaelC: Its' true Zoli. Because Australia is so big many kids can't get to a school.
Felix: But if I have any problems, I can ask some friends of mine (referring to the webheads. hehehehe)
Ying-Lan: I have heard one idea that they said the Education of Australia is the best one in the world. Is it true?
MichaelC: And many adults also choose to do distance education. And we webheads are here to help Felix. (And you are a webhead too remember!)
MichaelC: Apparently that is true Ying. We have been doing longer than most countries because we had to.
Ying-Lan: It is different... the member of webhead can not help Felix to get a job.
MichaelC: No. but maybe we can help him with his study...
Zoli: But we can talk about our experinces, right?
Ying-Lan: You are right!
MichaelC: Exactly Zoli. And you could use your experiences with webheads and the Palace as part of your study...
Felix: That's dead right Michael.
Ying-Lan: I remember that Zoli are you a engineer in eurpoe?
MichaelC: So check it out!
Zoli: Okay, I will.
MichaelC: Are you studying at the moment Zoli?
Zoli: I'm studying mechanical engineering.
MichaelC: OK.
Zoli: Yeah, I'm a uni student.
MichaelC: What do you actually want to study Felix? English language teaching?
Zoli: (Wow Ying, you have a good memory.)
Ying-Lan: OH...
Ying-Lan: Am I right?
Felix: Probably Michael..
MichaelC: I'm pretty sure that's possible. Let's hope so.
Zoli: I also want to be an English teacher, but first I want to finish my studies at the uni.
MichaelC: Zoli - are you able to get here a bit earlier each week> We usually finish about now.
Ying-Lan: Why do you want to be an English Teacher?
Zoli: Sure, MC.
Ying-Lan: Zoli,,, do you live in Canada?
MichaelC: That's good Zoli.
Zoli: In fact, I was here about 2 hours ago, but there was nobody here then.
Ying-Lan: Sorry,....
Ying-Lan: I am late tonight.
Felix: Because I think it's a good way to make money Ying.
MichaelC: We came about 1 hour ago.
Zoli: Yang, I live in Hungary.
Felix: and I love English language.
Ying-Lan: I was right...
MichaelC: What time is it in Hungary now?
Zoli: Here it's 15:40.
Felix: I've gotta go.. I need to buy cigarrettes
Felix: Here is 10:34 am
Ying-Lan: ^I can not be an English teacher in Taiwan.
Zoli: Oh, do you smoke?
MichaelC: So if you come about 14.30 you'll catch us at the start of our chat.
Felix: yes Zoli I do smoke.
Zoli: Okay, I'll be here next Sunday.
Ying-Lan: Zoli...... if Vance was here, you would probably to talk to him at that time.
