Andy and I agreed to buddy together as the boat was pulling out. Funny thing happened on this one, there were two newbies to BSAC on our boat (two boats) and I was buddied to one and Andy to the other by decree. However these two guys were friends and wanted to buddy together, and I think Andy preferred to buddy with me and I to him as we were both experienced and likely to cause each other least trouble during the dive plus have compatible profiles, tolerances for depth, air consumption, and the other things that make diving enjoyable in general. When we all four expressed these sentiments to the deputy dive marshal on our boat he felt compelled to shout over to the other boat for permission to change the buddy arrangements. This was denied in shouted countermand from the other boat as these two guys had never dived MoM before and therefore had to be paired with knowledgeable buddies. All most immediately concerned were not too happy with the arrangements imposed from the other boat but Andy diplomatically suggested we all dive together as a foursome. So we all entered the water at about the same time. The two guys hung back, Andy and I ventured a little ahead, and the current did the rest. Andy and I buddied together and we never saw the other two guys underwater the rest of the day, though topside all concerned seemed to really enjoy the diving.

Description of dive:

'Mother of Mouse' is an island like Lima Rock but further north. I've never seen much of great interest there, except we saw a few turtles, and there is a great wall with nice corals, particularly staghorns. The most interesting part of the dive was at the very end when we were at the west end of the island in ten meters of water following the turtles around, and no telling what else we'd have seen there except that BSAC rules are an inviolable 50 bar or 50 min whichever comes first, and in this case 50 min came with about 80 bar left in the tank, so we came up and waited at the surface for the boat to round the west end and find us.

Nitrox 21% (normal air), no deco

Description of dive:

After MoM we headed for the nearest calm waters and dived the headlands which we have dubbed 'Headlands of Mouse'. Now this was the best dive site of the day, probably not dived very much. BIG barracudas hanging off the point and lots of pelagic fish moving through, a number of turtles, and toward the end of the dive, a relaxed eagle ray that apparently didn't see us and hung around for more than the usual ten seconds mucking about on the reef below us but finally detected our presence and skidaddled.

Training conducted: none, fun dive

Interval on computer from previous dive: 1:36
Pressure group in, from tables or wheel: -

Time down on dive computer: 15:19
Max depth: 22.3 meters
Time started up from chart: -started ascent on cue at 50 min and hung out at 5 meters for 2 min
Dive time from computer: 54 min
Min Temp: degrees 26 centigrade
No-stop time left on computer: 5 min
Nitrox 21% (normal air), no deco

Description of dive:

3rd dive at Lima Rock headland was similar two previous two but no rays, lots of turtles, and a few barracuda. The BSAC guys like to dive the point. FrogLegs go for the rock. The rock rocks! The point has always been mediocre in my limited experience.
